Liverpool: £70m ‘Magician’ A Priority Signing At Anfield

Liverpool are in advanced negotiations for Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, as Jurgen Klopp is closing in on the first step of an extensive rebuild.

What’s the latest on Alexis Mac Allister to Liverpool?

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the Reds are closing in on a deal for the 24-year-old, who is described as one of their “priority targets” alongside Mason Mount.

The journalist had previously tweeted that the Merseyside outfit were close to full agreement on personal terms with the player and club just waiting to finalise the final details.

It has been revealed that there’s no fixed clause in his current contract, but it has been suggested it could take more than £70m for the move to happen.

Why should Liverpool sign Alexis Mac Allister?

The £50k-per-week gem has been on the south coast since 2019, but in the last year, he has deservedly enjoyed a phenomenal rise in prominence and popularity.

He has made 39 appearances in all competitions and registered 15 goal involvements for the Seagulls this campaign and has been an integral component of a side that secured Europa League qualification thanks to a 1-1 draw with recently crowned Premier League champions Manchester City yesterday evening.

Alexis Mac Allister Brighton

The 16-cap international, whose current contract expires in 2025, has received this vast admiration thanks to his indispensable role in his nation’s World Cup triumph last year having played in six of the seven tournament games for the eventual winners.

The Argentine provided for Ángel Di María in his team’s second goal in the final against France, to become immortalised in his country’s folklore.

From a deep-lying playmaker role, Mac Allister has been in impeccable form – showcased by the fact that he ranks in the top 19% in Europe’s top five leagues among his positional peers for progressive carries per 90, the highest 17% for shot-creating actions per 90, and the best 16% for successful take-ons per 90.

He represents an upgrade to Naby Keita, who is to depart Liverpool this summer after five years at the club.

Previously labelled as the "complete midfielder" by Jurgen Klopp, the former RB Leipzig man, but his time in England has been blighted by injury and inconsistency.

As per The Athletic, the Reds have played 277 competitive matches since his arrival, but he’s only featured in 129 of them, which equates to 47%.

This season, he has only made eight top-flight outings for Liverpool and has shockingly registered just the 25th-highest rating within the whole squad, according to WhoScored.

Compared to Liverpool's priority target, he also ranks poorly, as he sat inside the top 41% of Premier League players last term for successful take-ons, demonstrating he is dispossessed easily and lacks composure.

Meanwhile, Mac Allister, who has been hailed as a "magician" by Danny Welbeck, embodies reliability and consistency and would be a welcome replacement for Keita at Anfield.

Chelsea Gem Set For Medical As Contract Agreed With New Club

Chelsea star Dujon Sterling is set to join Rangers after agreeing a four-year deal with the Scottish outfit.

The 23-year-old is out of contract next month and is set to leave Stamford Bridge after first joining the club as a seven-year-old in 2007.

Much like many of Chelsea's most promising youngsters, he has been forced out on loan for four of the last five seasons with his most recent spell with Stoke City.

What's the transfer latest on Dujon Sterling?

According to Football Insider, Sterling has already agreed to join Rangers and once he completes a medical with the Scottish outfit, he will put pen to paper on his new deal.

The medical will be completed imminently and having already been given a tour of Rangers' training ground, only the most important details remain.

In his career to date, Sterling has been able to provide 13 goals and 16 assists in 193 appearances across a number of different positions.

Todd Boehly watches on from his seat at Stamford Bridge as Chelsea play in the Premier League.

The Blues are infamous for their loan policy but Sterling's exit marks a failure in this department. The 23-year-old leaves as a free agent so Chelsea will not recoup a transfer fee from his departure.

Given the financial scrutiny the London outfit is under, any income will help alleviate pressure to generate revenue that can be directed towards transfers and balancing the books.

Who are Chelsea's transfer targets?

The Blues could theoretically complete a double transfer from Napoli given the reported interest in defender Kim Min-Jae and attacker Victor Osimhen.

However, signing them will likely cost a fortune given their success this season in Italy. Osimhen, in particular, will cost a heinous amount of money to bring to the Premier League.

The Nigerian forward could cost as much as £131m although Chelsea are investigating whether they could include the likes of Christian Pulisic and Kepa Arrizabalaga to sweeten the deal for Napoli.

But with the Blues having already spent a huge sum of money under the stewardship of Todd Boehly, perhaps looking to utilise some of their young talents would have been a wise option.

It is believed Mauricio Pochettino has now agreed to become their next manager over the summer and he is a manager who is known for his positive influence on a club's exciting, young prospects.

And given the injury issues which Reece James has suffered from in recent months, perhaps allowing Sterling to leave could be a decision which they are left to rue over coming years.

Man United Told To Sign Ace With £870m Release Clause

YouTuber Mark Goldbridge has claimed that Ronald Araujo would be a "dream" signing for Manchester United if they miss out on defender Kim Min-jae.

Who wants to sign Kim Min-jae?

It seems the Red Devils are desperate to add some reinforcements to their back line this summer with Sky Sports Germany's Florian Plettenberg claiming a central defender is a first "priority" for the club.

And it has appeared that United are very keen on signing Napoli ace Kim. However, reports in Portugal (via Mirror) have recently claimed that Newcastle United now lead the race to land the South Korea international.

And so, if United miss out on that target to their Premier League rivals, they may have to shop elsewhere in the market and Goldbrige has claimed one man from Barcelona would be an ideal alternative.

Indeed, when speaking on The United Stand YouTube channel, Goldbridge said: "I mean, I think Araujo – I never can pronounce his name – at Barcelona would be a dream. Dream."

How much is Araujo's release clause?

The Red Devils have been linked with a move for the Barca star in the recent past. Indeed, the defender's contract was due to expire in 2023, and Marca had claimed that Manchester United and Liverpool were keen on moving in.

However, Araujo has since committed his future to his current side, extending his deal at Camp Nou through to 2026, with his release clause rising to €1bn billion (roughly £870m). He also told ESPN: "I am really happy and I am convinced that staying is the right decision because there are good years ahead for the club.

Barcelona's Ronald Araujo

While adding specifically on the exit talk: "[The Premier League interest] didn't distract me at all. I was convinced what I wanted. It's true money is a factor, but for me it's not the most important thing. I am happy at Barcelona."

With that being the case, it feels as though there is more of a chance of United landing Kim this summer than pulling off a move for Araujo who has been dubbed a "monster" by some in the media.

However, contracts don't always end up necessarily meaning that much in the world of football. And with that £870m release clause in his contract, perhaps hopeful owner Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani – who has bid well over five times that much in recent weeks – would want to pay that sort of money if he also views Araujo as a "dream" transfer.

For now, though, it all feels a little bit fanciful.

Seamers George Panayi and Ed Barnes led an England fightback on the second day of the second Under-19s international against Sri Lanka in Northampton. While their counties Warwickshire and Yorkshire were squaring up in a Championship match at Headingley, Panayi and Barnes each took three wickets. Gloucestershire’s George Hankins provided good support with four slip catches – although the tourists still claimed a first-innings lead of 99 thanks to half-centuries from lower-order batsmen Navindu Vithanage and Jehan Daniel.England then suffered another blow in a gloomy evening session as captain Max Holden, who had carried his bat for 111 in the first innings, was bowled off an inside edge driving at Lahiru Kumara. They will resume on Friday on 24 for 1, still 75 behind.England needed early wickets when Sri Lanka resumed on 48 for 1 in reply to a below-par total of 208, and after a frustrating start Panayi and Aaron Beard delivered with three in consecutive overs.Panayi, who signed a professional contract with Warwickshire earlier this year and is one of two Shrewsbury School products in the team with the Worcestershire opener Olly Westbury, had taken the first wicket on Wednesday, and added the important scalp of Sri Lanka’s captain Charith Asalanka with a good return catch. Then Beard, who made his first-class debut for Essex earlier this season, had Wanidu Hasaranga edging to Surrey’s Ollie Pope, who produced a tidy performance in front of the England wicketkeeping coach Bruce French. When Panayi bowled Shammu Ashan for a duck as he tried to withdraw his bat, Sri Lanka had lost three wickets for six runs and stumbled to 79 for 4.They recovered with a fifth-wicket stand of 51 before Barnes claimed two wickets in three overs in a fine spell from the Wantage Road end, as first Avishka Fernando, then Ashen Bandara edged into Hankins’s safe hands at second slip. That was 153 for 6, but England were then frustrated by a seventh-wicket stand of 94 between Daniel and Vithanage. It was finally broken by Amar Virdi, a Surrey offspinner who had a net session with Monty Panesar on Wednesday, as Daniel edged a cut and Hankins claimed his third catch.Holden confirmed the value of his occasional offspin by taking the eighth wicket in a tidy nine-over spell, and then Beard and Barnes polished off the tail in four overs with the new ball.

Lynn and Finch out of Sri Lanka T20s

Chris Lynn, who dislocated his shoulder, and Aaron Finch, who broke his finger, will not be available for the two T20s against Sri Lanka later this week

ESPNcricinfo staff04-Sep-2016Chris Lynn and Aaron Finch are the latest Australians to be injured on the Sri Lanka tour. They joined Shaun Marsh (broken finger) and Nathan Coulter-Nile (back injury) on the injury roster, and will not be available for the two T20Is later this week.”Chris dislocated his left shoulder whilst diving during a fielding drill at training today,” Australia’s physiotherapist David Beakley said. “Consequently he will be unavailable for the remaining matches and instead will return to Brisbane to undergo further investigation to determine the full extent of the injury.”Aaron was hit on the right index finger when fielding a ball [during the fifth ODI] and subsequent x-rays have shown a fracture.”The injury to Lynn’s left shoulder continues a disastrous trend for the batsman, who in the lead-up to the 2014-15 season had surgery to fix a rotator cuff problem in his left shoulder. As a result, he missed the entire Matador Cup campaign and the first half of the Sheffield Shield summer. Then in September 2015, Lynn dislocated the same shoulder during a fielding drill and once again missed the entire Matador Cup season, in which he was set to captain Queensland, and the first half of the Shield summer. The 2016-17 Matador Cup season is to begin in less than four weeks.Although the seriousness of the latest injury to Lynn’s left shoulder remains to be seen, given his history the possibility of a third consecutive curtailed season would be a major blow. Lynn’s entire international career so far consists of five T20s, but for some time he has been considered one of the most promising batsmen in the country.Lynn had been in prime form in the Caribbean Premier League, topping the run-charts with 454 runs at an average of 45.40 and strike-rate of 133.13. Finch had been one of Australia’s most dominant batsmen in Sri Lanka, striking a record-equalling 18-ball fifty in the fourth ODI.With Mitchell Marsh and Steven Smith having left for home to rest, Australia were almost in danger of not having XI fit men to put on the park for Tuesday’s T20 until they asked wicketkeeper Matthew Wade and batsman George Bailey to remain in Sri Lanka after the ODI series that ended today.Wade, who will stay on for both T20s, and Bailey, for one of them, have also handled Sri Lanka’s spinners in dry and dusty pitches excellently. Usman Khawaja had been added to the squad when Marsh was forced to leave last week. Finch will perform 12th man duties during the T20s.Australia squad: David Warner (capt), George Bailey, Scott Boland, James Faulkner, John Hastings, Travis Head, Moises Henriques, Usman Khawaja, Glenn Maxwell, Peter Nevill (wk), Mitchell Starc, Matthew Wade, Adam Zampa

Newcastle Make Approach To Sign £14m Premier League Striker

Newcastle United have approached Wolves to enquire about signing Hwang Hee-Chan this summer.

The Magpies have enjoyed a thrilling season which secured Champions League qualification for the 2023/24 season and are expected to spend splash the cash.

Indeed, The Telegraph even report that Newcastle are set for their biggest summer spend ever.

What's the transfer latest on Hwang Hee-Chan to Newcastle?

According to The Mirror, a couple of Premier League clubs, including Newcastle, are interested in a "surprise transfer" for Hwang Hee-Chan this summer. Spurs, Aston Villa and AS Roma are all keen on signing the 27-year-old.

Wolves are under pressure to sell due to the club's need to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations. Hee-Chan is one of the best players at Molineux and his departure could generate a decent sum.

He joined the club in a £14million move from RB Leipzig and while he hasn't exactly set the Premier League alight, this season he managed four goals and three assists in a Wolves team that scored just 31 goals in the league.

Newcastle have approached Wolves but Julien Lopetegui, who is dismayed at the news his club is under pressure to sell, wants all incoming and outgoings to be completed as soon as possible.

Any clubs wanting to sign Hwang Hee-Chan will need to act quickly.

Could Hee-Chan be Newcastle's Roberto Firmino?

Three years ago, the Bundesliga published a player profile on Hwang Hee-Chan ahead of the South Korean's move to RB Leipzig, likening him to Roberto Firmino.

Indeed, the site wrote about the similarities between Firmino and Hwang Hee-Chan, with the former bidding farewell to Liverpool fans on Sunday – scoring a brilliant goal during the Reds' entertaining 4-4 draw with relegated Southampton.

The main similarity between the two players is arguably their ability to drive past players with the ball. Firmino, due to his comparative lack of pace, relies more on deft touches to elude defenders while Hee-Chan, seemingly, has more pace and power.

This allows him to speed past defenders and midfielders on the break. For Wolves, a team that relies on counter-attacking and resolute defending, his pace will be a huge miss if he leaves.

For Eddie Howe, Hee-Chan could be a valuable asset to a side that has shown considerable threat both on the counter-attack and during longer spells of possession.

The centre-forward has four years remaining on his contract with Wolves and so have the power in any negotiations to come.

Crystal Palace Consider Alternative To 75 y/o

Insider Dean Jones has revealed that Crystal Palace are "still speaking to" potential managers to replace Roy Hodgson in the summer.

Will Crystal Palace hire Roy Hodgson as permanent manager?

It's been a pretty incredible spell as interim boss for the 75-year-old since he returned to Selhurst Park to steady the ship.

Indeed, Hodgson has eased all relegation fears with five wins, two losses and just one draw in the eight Premier League games he's overseen this term.

However, the current Palace boss returned to the club having signed a contract to keep him around only for the remainder of the campaign.

But with things going so well, there could be the temptation to keep him around for next season as well – with The Sun reporting a new one-year deal is on the cards.

However, while discussing Hodgson on Chasing Green Arrows, Jones said that the Eagles were still discussing alternative options.

The journalist explained (30:25): “They are still speaking to people, Palace, as well outside – or they have at least in the last two weeks been scoping people out.

"So we'll have to wait and see what kind of manager they decide to bring in.

"But ultimately after seeing how he's [Eberechi Eze] been flourishing, Steve Parish will want someone who was guaranteed to let him free. So let's look out for that”

Who has been linked with the Palace manager's job?

When discussing the latest on Palace, Jones was talking about how well Eze has been doing under Hodgson and the midfielder is likely desperate for the current boss to stay in charge.

After all, he has scored six goals and played the full 90 minutes in every single Palace game since the 75-year-old arrived.

However, seeing as Hodgson was only supposed to be back on a short-term basis – having already left the club back in 2021 – it might be unwise to completely dismiss the idea of looking into hiring some other managers.

According to a recent report from The Daily Mail, Fulham boss Marco Silva is one man who could come in and take over.

Seeing as the Cottagers sit eight points above Crystal Palace on the league table, it's easy to see why this could be an appealing idea for Steve Parish and co.

Still, if Hodgson continues to win in the Eagles' final two games of the season, it might be pretty hard to simply let him go this summer.

Rangers Considering Swoop To Sign £10m Marksman

An update has emerged on Glasgow Rangers and their plans to bolster their attacking options in the upcoming summer transfer window…

What's the latest on Anastasios Douvikas to Rangers?

According to TEAMtalk, Gers boss Michael Beale could launch a swoop to sign Greek international centre-forward Anastasios Douvikas from FC Utrecht ahead of next season.

The report claims that the Light Blues are eyeing up the Eredivisie striker and that they could be competing with Scottish rivals Celtic to land his signature, with the Hoops having also been touted with an interest in the ace.

Earlier this month, Utrecht technical director Jordy Zuidam claimed that the Dutch club are looking for a fee in the region of €12m (£10m) before they will cash in on their top players, with the marksman being named as one of their biggest assets.

How has Anastasios Douvikas performed this season?

The 23-year-old centre-forward has been in prolific form in the Eredivisie in 2022/23 and the no.9 could come in as a big upgrade on current Gers striker Kemar Roofe.

Glasgow Rangers forward Kemar Roofe.

Beale, in March, confirmed that the Jamaican attacker will miss the rest of the campaign through injury and this means that the dud will end the season with just three appearances in the Scottish Premiership.

He has only played 24 games in the division since the start of last term and this shows that the ex-Leeds poacher is rarely available for selection, with injuries plaguing the dynamo.

Roofe racked up 11 goals – scoring every 2.18 outings – and one assist in that time and that is a decent return in front of goal but Douvikas could come in and offer far more reliability in his availability whilst also being able to provide a greater threat in the final third.

The Greek international, who is also seven years younger than the Gers man, has played 65 Eredivisie games since the start of last season and has plundered 18 goals and four assists in 31 matches in the current campaign – a strike every 1.72 clashes.

This shows that the 23-year-old is more durable, based on his vastly superior appearance record, and has the potential to score goals more frequently than the Light Blues liability.

Douvikas, who was hailed as "sharp" by journalist Josh Bunting, has created seven 'big chances' for his teammates in 22/23 and Roofe has provided his fellow Rangers players with four in the last three years combined, which suggests that the Utrecht star would offer far more creativity from the number nine position by providing others with opportunities to score on a regular basis.

Therefore, Beale could land a big upgrade on the ex-Anderlecht striker by beating Celtic to the signing of the Eredivisie titan in the summer transfer window.

West Ham Keen On Signing £60k-A-Week Ex-Liverpool Man

West Ham are believed to be interested in signing AC Milan forward Divock Origi in the summer transfer window, according to a new transfer report from Italy.

Could Origi leave Milan this summer?

The Belgian left Liverpool to join Milan last year, having become something of a cult hero at Anfield, scoring some iconic Champions League goals against the likes of Barcelona and Tottenham, not to mention big Premier League strikes along the way, too.

Origi hasn't quite managed to have the same impact in Italy, however, struggling to become a regular for Milan throughout the campaign and having been nothing more than a squad player. The £60,000-a-week attacker has only started 10 Serie A games in total, coming off the substitutes' bench 16 times, with only two goals coming his way in the competition.

While the 28-year-old is contracted to Milan until the summer of 2026, it could be that they decide to cut their losses at the end of this season and allow to him to move elsewhere, which is where West Ham come into play.

AC Milan forward Divock Origi.

Could Origi join West Ham this summer?

According to MilanNews.it [via Sport Witness], the east Londoners and Aston Villa are "ready to believe" in Origi in the summer window, with both Premier League clubs eyeing a move for him. The report states that the ex-Liverpool man "could already leave" once the current campaign reaches its conclusion, and both teams have "asked for information" regarding his services.

While the 32-cap Belgium international has failed to repeat his past performances in a Milan shirt, he could still be a shrewd signing by the Hammers this summer, as they look to make key attacking reinforcements.

His big-game mentality stood out so often during his time at Anfield, with such nervelessness shown in key moments in massive games, and his pace and physicality could make him an effective part of West Ham's attack, not to mention his ability to play both out wide and centrally.

Jurgen Klopp once hailed Origi as "world-class", showing just how much he thought of him, and at 28, he would be coming in at a good point in his career, still remaining at a high level for the foreseeable future. A tally of 59 goal contributions (41 goals and 18 assists) for Liverpool shows the pedigree that he has, and he is a Champions League, Premier League, Club World Cup, FA Cup and EFL Cup winner.
