Contratado no início deste ano, o volante Fellipe Bastos, de 27 anos, vem agradando ao técnico Fabio Carille e atuou em sete das oito partidas nesta temporada. Contudo, a comissão técnica do clube diagnosticou problemas físicos no atleta e prepara um trabalho especial para ele entrar em forma.

O atleta estava atuando nos Emirados Árabes Unidos, país no qual os treinos e os jogos são em ritmos menos intensos.

Apesar do problema, Carille não pensa em afastar Fellipe Bastos da equipe enquanto ele busca o melhor condicionamento físico.

-Não sei se é iniciando os jogos ou participando um pouco, mas ele não vai ser afastado nunca. Ele pode chegar mais cedo e fazer trabalhos paralelos sozinho, como foi com o Vagner Love, igual está sendo com o Jadson, que fez um período sozinho, depois foi integrado e treinou em outro período separadamente. É assim que entendo que o Fellipe pode chegar o quanto antes na sua melhor condição – declarou o treinador, em entrevista ao LANCE!.

Fellipe tem sofrido resistência de parte da Fiel torcida, que pede maior utilização de Maycon e Marciel, jovens revelados na base, que são xodós dos torcedores. Porém, Carille rasga elogios ao camisa 21:

– A minha última referência do Fellipe é no Grêmio. Ele vai ter que passar por um processo e precisa entender que quando um jogador vem da Arábia e da China precisa passar por um trabalho, lá é menos intenso. Ele pega muito bem na bola, tem marcação forte, preenche bem o campo adversário, vinha trabalhando como primeiro volante na Arábia. A gente tem todas essas informações. Ele é um jogador de personalidade, busca o jogo para tentar armar, com certeza em algum tempo vai estar na melhor condição física e vai nos ajudar muito!

وأضاف: “في الشوط الثاني كنا الأفضل، والمصري قبل المباراة كان مثلنا لم يخسر سوى مواجهتين، وفاز على الاهلي”.

وواصل: “اللاعبون كانوا جيدين في 5 مباريات ونسير بشكل جيد، ويوجد فرق كبير بين الشوط الأول والثاني”. 

وتابع مدرب الزمالك: “ذهبنا بعد المباراة لنحيي الجماهير ونشكرهم على مساندتنا، ونتمنى أن يكونوا معنا في الفترة المقبلة”.

وأردف: “التغييرات أمر طبيعي والبدلاء نجحوا في أن يمنحونا الإضافة المطلوبة، والمباراة مدتها 90 دقيقة ونغير الأداء والخطط علي مدار اللقاء، والتغييرات تتم لإعطاء الإضافة أو للتأمين مثلما حدث في بعض المباريات السابقة”.

The Gers enjoyed a magnificent campaign in 2020/21, winning the Premiership for the first time in 10 years without losing a single game in the league.

As such, they are now preparing for a campaign which could also include a run in the Champions League – new signings are therefore expected to boost the squad.

The Latest: Gers eye Chukwuemeka

It is being reported that the Gers are interested in signing Chukwuemeka this summer.

Given that his youth contract will run out in January, he could be signed for a bargain fee of £60,000 – a deal reminiscent of the one the Gers carried out to sign Glen Kamara in 2019 for just £50,000 (via Daily Record). Earlier this year, he was even targetted by Premier League outfit Tottenham (Football Insider).

The Verdict: One for the future

So far, the 19-year-old has very little experience to his name. He has just one season of professional football under his belt as he managed two goals in 28 appearances last term (Transfermarkt). If he does move to Ibrox, it is unlikely that he will instantly become one of the first names on the teamsheet for Steven Gerrard.

However, Chukwuemeka would be joining a group of budding young talents as the Gers prepare for the future. Last season, Nathan Patterson evolved into a trusted squad member, making 14 senior appearances, while both Leon King and Ciaran Dickson made their debuts for the club. The 55-time Scottish champions are thinking long-term, and Chukwuemeka would fit into that plan.

In other news, Rangers are set to ramp up their interest in this 27-year-old.

What’s the word?

Speaking on the latest episode of ‘The West Ham Way’ podcast, the anonymous ExWHUemployee delivered a fresh update on the club’s transfer plans and it’s not very good news.

“I know people are getting really stressed about it already. I don’t think there will be much movement until after the Euros. Any talk that players are close to signing generally isn’t true,” he said.

“The players we are interested in, we won’t start bidding for until a couple of weeks time. We always want to see what the best value is out there which I know is a strategy that not many people like.

“There are loads of targets, particularly at centre-back. I think we just have to hold on and hope that some of these players we are interested in don’t move elsewhere. It’s obviously an annoying strategy.”

Fatal mistake

It seems as if the Hammers are setting themselves up for disaster with this sort of approach this summer.

If manager David Moyes has his targets, then the East London outfit ought to already be working on signing them, rather than waiting another two weeks to do business.

They risk either said player’s fee rising because of performances at Euro 2020 or demand in his services, as well as the prospect of missing out on the target altogether.

That is something that already appears to be the case as Barcelona defender Junior Firpo looks to have chosen the Irons’ top-flight rivals Leeds United over a move to the London Stadium.

He now gets the chance to punish Moyes and co at least twice next season.

The Scotsman needs additions right across the pitch if they are to remain competitive as thanks to their qualification into the Europa League, two matches a week (Thursday-Sunday) are likely to become the norm and if they go well in the competition, it’s likely they will play 50 or more games.

Moyes is only one injury to a Michail Antonio or a Declan Rice away from a nightmare. Neither have solid backup options behind them. Not to mention that a central defender appears to be a clear priority for the 58-year-old too.

All in all, waiting to conduct business should have many Hammers fans hugely worried – they’ll only have themselves to blame if other targets go elsewhere in the coming days.

The Verdict: Impressive forward

Although Nisbet does not play for one of Scotland’s two biggest clubs, he has impressed over the past three seasons, scoring 75 goals in all competitions during that time (Transfermarkt). His performances earned him a spot in the Scotland squad for Euro 2020, and he even got himself on the scoresheet in a 2-2 draw with Netherlands prior to the tournament.

As per The Daily Record, the Gers would need to sell first if they were to move for the £2.7m-valued Nisbet (Transfermarkt) as they already have Morelos, Fashion Sakala, Cedric Itten, Kemar Roofe and Jermain Defoe in their squad already. However, with the Colombian attracting interest from Porto, a berth may open, and Nisbet would be a good option to fill it.
