وجه اللاعب ريان بروستر رسالة عاطفية إلى نادي ليفربول بعد رحيله عن بطل الدوري الإنجليزي، اليوم الجمعة، وانتقاله إلى صفوف فريق شيفيلد يونايتد.

وأعلن شيفيلد حصوله على خدمات بروستر بمقتضى عقد لمدة خمس سنوات (لمطالعة التفاصيل من هنا).

وكتب بروستر، عبر حسابه الشخصي بموقع “تويتر”: “بعد سنوات من التعلم والنمو في ليفربول، حان الوقت بالنسبة لي لبدء فصل جديد، شكر عاطفي للجميع في ليفربول، لإيمانهم بي ودعمهم لي في كل خطوة على الطريق، خلال جميع الأوقات الجيدة والأكثر صعوبة أيضًا”.

وأضاف: “حب كبير لجميع زملائي في الفريق، الذين ساندوني ودعموني لأكون أفضل كل يوم”.

وواصل: “أغادر ليفربول مع ذكريات خاصة وأشياء تعملتها لا حصر لها، لكن الأهم من ذلك، أنني أصبحت أفضل مقارنة بما كنت عليه عندما جئت إلى هنا”.

Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter to voice their displeasure at Roy Hodgson, after the former Liverpool boss’ decision making saw them lose 2-1 to arch rivals Brighton.

The Seagulls’ victory at Selhurst Park means that Chris Hughton’s men have done the double over the Eagles for the first time in 35 years, and also saw Palace perform in toothless fashion as two well-taken goals from Glenn Murray and Anthony Knockaert helped the three points return to the Amex Stadium.

Hodgson strangely dropped Max Meyer and Cheikhou Kouyate, despite the pair impressing away to Burnley last week, whilst his decision to move Wilfried Zaha over to the right after the Ivorian was constantly getting the better of Martin Montoya on the left was baffling – the switch killed Palace’s attacking momentum almost entirely.

The match-winner, Knockaert, was perhaps lucky to be on the pitch after a studs-up challenge on Luka Milivojevic within the first minute, but nevertheless, Palace left a lot to be desired against their rivals.

The wheels are threatening to come off for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s journey at Manchester United.

What started as a dream is slowly turning into a mini-nightmare. After pulling off his greatest managerial achievement by guiding the Red Devils into the Champions League quarter-finals against all odds, he’s seen a shocking drop in form for his squad.

However, something to be noticed is how different United’s starting lineups were against PSG as compared to those against Arsenal and Wolves recently. Be it a complete change in midfield, returning players or a different approach, it seems Solskjaer hasn’t taken kindly to this recent transition.

He and United are still stuck in the Champions League dreams.

Solskjaer’s inexperience has also been telling in the recent results. Some of his own flaws were pounced upon by Nuno Esposito Santos’ Wolves, who successfully stretched and destabilized United’s system with clinical counter-attacks. The Norwegian’s substitution sense is still frail and he hasn’t been able to rotate United’s squad that well.

Against Wolves, Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard both seemed out of it. Nemanja Matic’s lack of mobility was capitalized on, while Marcus Rashford was isolated as a solo striker. One could argue he should’ve played the resurgent Fred and possibly even Andreas Perreira, who’s been in hot form in recent weeks- to add more bite in midfield.

He might still be favourite to win the United managerial job permanently, but the string of results help Solskjaer face reality. The international break serves as ample time for him to reassess his tactics and work on improving his personal mistakes.

وقال واتكينز، في تصريحات نشرتها شبكة “بي بي سي” العالمية: “أعتقد أنه عندما سجلت هدفي الأول اليوم، ضغطت على نفسي قليلاً بسبب الوقت الذي جاء فيه الهدف حيث كان مبكرًا، يسعدني المساهمة وأننا فزنا في نهاية اليوم”.

وأضاف: “إنه أمر لا يصدق أن أسجل وأحرز هاتريك، قبل المباراة لم أكن أعتقد أنني سأحرز ثلاثة أهداف، بعد أول واحدة نمت ثقتي، لكن ربما كان علي أن أسجل أكثر من ثلاثة أهداف في النهاية، سأدعم نفسي لأحقق بعض الفرص التي أهدرتها”.

وواصل: “لقد رأينا مدى ارتفاع مستوى لعبهم وكانت خطة المباراة تتأخر ويمكن أن ترى أنها نجحت، لقد تخيلنا أنفسنا اليوم ولكني لست متأكدًا من أننا اعتقدنا أنها ستكون تلك النتيجة”.

واستكمل: “كان الأمر يتعلق بالتأكد من أنهم لا يستطيعون اختراق مساحاتنا والمرور بيننا، وعملنا جميعًا بجد وأثبتنا ذلك الليلة”.

Spurs are going to fall short once again in the race for the Premier League title, as the club once again just miss out on England’s top prize.

Mauricio Pochettino will be keen to see his team keep progressing in the coming seasons, as he looks to build on a solid foundation and take advantage of the club finally moving into their new home at the former site of White Hart Lane.

The Argentinian will be keen to start bringing some trophies to the club to cap off and have something to show for what has been a fine period in charge of the club, but he will also be aware that there has to be some tweaks at the club if they are to bring that success to the fans.

That got us here in the Tavern thinking a bit, and we think that Pochettino will be keen on ensuring he addresses a few issues at the club this summer.

With that, we looked at TWO areas of concern Pochettino might look to sort out at Spurs during pre-season…

The addition of a quality second striker

While Spurs have one of the best in the world in Harry Kane, the same can’t be said about the second choice forward players at his disposal.

It’s tough trying to find someone to play second fiddle to Kane, but this is something Pochettino needs to try and sort out, and signing a quality new striker could well take his side to the next level.

Improving the mentality of this players

Despite their brilliant football, Spurs are in danger of becoming the nearly men of English football, with the club falling short at crucial stages in the last three campaigns now.

Pochettino needs to address this within his squad before falling at the final hurdle almost becomes a bad habit.

Its easier said than done of course, but it’s something the Spurs boss simply has to look at going forward.

وكان “كاف” قد طلب إجراء مسحة قبل سفر الفريق إلى المغرب، بجانب مسحة ثانية قبل 48 ساعة من المباراة، إلى جانب ملف طبي شامل لكل لاعب بالفريق.

كما توجهت حافلة الفريق منذ قليل لخوض المران الثاني مساء اليوم الخميس، استعدادًا لمواجهة الوداد المرتقبة.

Newcastle United will take part in this summer’s Asia Trophy in China, some 16 years after their last participation, which was the inaugural competition.

After some speculation, the trip was confirmed by the official Newcastle United website, and will see them play a semi-final and either the final, or third-placed play-off, against two of Manchester City, Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Ham United.

The Newcastle Chronicle report that the Newcastle hierarchy see the tournament as an ideal platform to spread the Newcastle United ‘brand’ across Asia.

But cynics will see it as Mike Ashley using his ownership of the football club as a front for giving exposure to his sportswear company, and tapping into a lucrative market in a bid to net him more money.

The trip is contradictory to the type of preseason tours Rafa Benitez prefers — read into that what you will.

The Spaniard likes to focus on short-haul trips — Ireland has been his location of choice on many occasions — which focus on seclusion and fitness training, with a game tagged onto the end of it for match sharpness.

A trip to China for the Premier League preseason showpiece event is hardly going to be a secluded one, with media appearances and hundreds of English football loving fans following their every move.

That said, it does provide two games in quick succession, in humid temperatures, giving the bulk of the squad some challenging conditions to overcome, which will help in their preparations for the new season.

Hopefully, Rafa will have been consulted on the preseason plans, and the club are taking part with his full agreement, meaning he is likely to be in charge next season.

Or are they making plans, regardless of what Rafa wants, in preparation for a new man to take over in the summer?

Until Rafa is asked about it directly, we have no idea if he gave his blessing to the trip, or whether he had any say at all. But either way, Newcastle will be there, and fans will be desperate for news that it will be Benitez in charge when they arrive.

Clearly, something is still lacking in Manchester United’s game, holding them back from reaching their full potential as an attacking unit.

While recent injury troubles haven’t helped them at all, the Red Devils find themselves missing that extra spark in midfield.

Paul Pogba is taking too many responsibilities onto his shoulders, resulting in topsy-turvy results in recent matches. In reality, the Red Devils lack that creative link between midfield and attack for a long time, with pretty much everything looking disjointed.

Now, with Ander Herrera looking more and more likely to leave, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has reportedly turned his attention towards signing Leicester loanee Youri Tielemans, according to Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws.

The former Anderlecht ace has been a revelation under new manager Brendan Rodgers, linking up really well with Jaime Vardy and co to create some truly beautiful goals. Indeed, in seven appearances, he’s scored one goal and assisted three in quite spectacular fashion, with Tielemans’ averaging 1.7 key passes per game with a passing accuracy of 84% to help the Foxes dominate their games (stats via WhoScored).

Though he’s previously reported to have rejected (by RMC journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi) the Red Devils once in the past, feeling not ready to thrive under pressure. However, now that he’s succeeded in the Premier League, Tielemans could really flourish at Old Trafford. He can successfully take the pressure off Pogba, while creating more chances for their attacking trio with his clever, incisive passes.

Frankly, he’s a huge talent waiting to be unlocked and Monaco were fools to loan him out. So, Ed Woodward and decision-makers behind the scenes at Old Trafford should prove they’re not and pull out all the stops to land him.

An emerging, clever midfielder who can operate in different midfield roles, he can be the key towards unlocking their attack into wreaking havoc on Premier League opposition next season. With Juan Mata also reported (as per Sky Sports) to be a possible departure, Tielemans seems like a natural heir.

أعلن نادي سانتوس المنافس في بطولة الدوري البرازيلي تعليق العقد الموقع بينه وبين روبينيو، بعد مرور 6 أيام فقط على عودته إلى بيته للمرة الرابعة في مسيرته الكروية.

وكان روبينيو قد وقع على عقد لمدة 5 أشهر فقط مع سانتوس، ولكن تبين أن البرازيلي عاد إلى ناديه البرازيلي تفاديًا لدخوله السجن في إيطاليا بسبب جريمة اغتصاب وقعت في عام 2013. (طالع التفاصيل)

وتمت إدانة اللاعب صاحب الـ36 عامًا في جريمة اغتصاب فتاة ألبانية قبل 7 سنوات، وهي الفترة التي كان يلعب فيها بقميص نادي ميلان.

وأصدر سانتوس بيانًا عبر حسابه على “تويتر” يؤكد من خلاله اتفاقه بالتراضي مع اللاعب على إيقاف سريان العقد الموقع لحين الانتهاء من قضيته في إيطاليا.

ورد روبينيو على فسخ العقد في مقطع فيديو على “إنستجرام”: “بحزن شديد في قلبي، أعلمكم أنني اتخذت قرارًا بالاتفاق مع رئيس نادي سانتوس بتعليق عقدي في هذا الوقت المضطرب الذي أعيشه”.

وتابع: “هدفي كان مساعدة سانتوس، لكن إذا كان وجودي بأي شكل من الأشكال سيحدث اضطرابًا داخل الفريق، فمن الأفضل أن أغادر واهتم بشئوني الشخصية وأثبت براءتي من أجل جماهير سانتوس التي تحبني”.

وكان نادي سانتوس قد تعرض لضغوطات إعلامية وجماهيرية كبيرة بعدما علموا أن انتقال روبينيو إلى الفريق بسبب تفادي دخول السجن، ودعوا إدارة الفريق البرازيلي إلى فسخ عقده خاصة وأن هنالك عقوبة على اللاعب بالحبس لمدة 9 سنوات من محكمة إيطالية عام 2017 بسبب تهمة اغتصاب جماعي.
