I was playing but wasn’t really in it because of my head.”Bess also revealed that he had thought long and hard over whether or not to take up an offer to go on an ECB-led spin-bowling camp in Mumbai, eventually deciding to do so.Immediately after the camp, Leach’s illness meant he was handed a late call-up to join the Test squad in South Africa, where he took eight wickets and won plaudits for his performance in a holding role.”I came back in a much better place and my motivation has been high ever since,” he said. “Depression is quite a strong word and I don’t think it will ever go away, it will always be with me. At times, I’ve really struggled outside cricket as well. Understanding it and managing it is the key.”

£60m star now prefers signing for Tottenham over Newcastle
Now, a fresh name has been tipped to make a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer. The player in question is RB Leipzig and France centre-back Mohamed Simakan. According to German outlet Bild (via London World), Tottenham are leading Newcastle in the race to sign the highly-rated stopper.
The report adds that Simakan would prefer a move to Spurs over a switch to Tyneside, with both clubs thought to be holding a firm interest. In terms of a fee for the defender, Bild claims he has a €70m (£60m) release clause.
Simakan joined Leipzig from Ligue 1 outfit Strasbourg in 2021 and has since notched 120 outings for the German outfit. Strasbourg’s director of training, Francois Keller, previously compared Simakan to fellow French defender Raphael Varane due to their similar physical qualities.
"We quickly realised that we were dealing with a phenomenon," Keller said. "He tore the place up… I said to myself that we had the new Varane. He was athletic, powerful, assured and calm."
In the Leipzig team, only defensive partner Willi Orban (2.8) won more aerials than Simakan (1.9) in the Bundesliga last season, as part of a defence that only unbeaten Bayer Leverkusen conceded fewer goals than. At 24, Simakan is clearly a trusted member of the squad, having featured in 31 of 34 top-flight matches.
Therefore, Spurs could be onto a winner if they can beat Newcastle to his signature, even at a hefty cost.

A sentença do juiz MarioCunha Olinto Filho, da 2ª Vara Cível da Barra da Tijuca do Tribunal de Justiça do Rio de Janeiro, tornou nula a Assembleia Geral que mudou o formato do colégio eleitoral da CBF. A decisão ainda nomeou os presidentes do Flamengo, Rodolfo Landim, e da Federação Paulista de Futebol, Reinaldo Carneiro Bastos, para o comando provisório da entidade por 30 dias – ambos ainda avaliam se irão aceitar a função. Para Leite, que foi relator do Profut, a transição elaborada pelo juiz é oportuna.
– O juiz adotou um critério criativo, que oferece representatividade ao momento que se requer um comando provisório legítimo. É uma decisão que oferece legitimidade a um comando provisório, que precisa de respaldo nos clubes e na sociedade – afirmou o deputado Otávio Leite.
A CBF alega que a medida “afronta a Constituição” e já anunciou que irá recorrer para tentar cassá-la – a decisão foi de primeira instância, ou seja, cabe recurso.
A anulação da eleição é apenas mais um episódio da maior crise da história da CBF. Em maio deste ano, Caboclo foi acusado de assédio moral e sexual por uma funcionária da entidade e acabou sendo afastado do cargo pela Comissão de Ética do Futebol.
ASSEMBLEIA ALTEROU COLÉGIO E REGRAS ELEITORAIS
A assembleia geral da CBF tornada nula pela justiça aconteceu em março de 2017. Na ocasião, sem a presença dos clubes, foram definidas mudanças nas regras para as eleições da entidade.
O colégio eleitoral da CBF, que antes era restrito às 27 federações estaduais e aos 20 clubes da Série A, passou a incluir os 20 clubes da Série B. Porém, foram atribuídos pesos diferentes para os votos dos integrantes, o que acabou por manter a concentração de poderes eleitorais nas mãos das entidades estaduais.
Os votos das federações passaram a ter peso 3, enquanto os clubes da Série A ficaram com peso 2, e os clubes da Série B, peso 1. Ou seja, as federações acumularam 81 votos contra 60 dos clubes.
Em um comunicado emitido á época, a CBF alegou que as federações ficaram com peso maior nos votos “porque representam milhares de clubes ausentes do processo eleitoral”.

Leeds United could be forced to let one of their players leave for nothing this summer, it has emerged, after a clause in their contract came to light.

After the game, Daniel Farke rued the lack of precision from his side, admitting that he felt his team "were not the worse side".
"I can’t really say we are the worst side in this final and to lose this final hurts a lot. In the final third, we were not fully committed to the attack. We were not over-precise with the pass."
But the knock on effect that promotion failure is likely to have at Elland Road could be the real tragedy, with players seemingly already lining up at the exit door and Leeds needing to sell before they can buy anyone with a massive £73.5m of transfer fees still owed this summer.
Crysencio Summerville, the Championship player of the year, seems primed to leave ahead of the new season amid Premier League interest, while Wilfried Gnonto is another that is likely to depart, and question marks remain over whether Joe Rodon can be signed permanently or if they can keep hold of budding superstar Archie Gray. Now, a decision made 12 months ago could force a financial hit.
Leeds loanee free to leave again
That decision comes regarding midfielder Marc Roca, who was signed during Leeds' time as a Premier League club for a fee of £10m and who became an integral part of the Whites midfield in their final top flight season.

However, he was allowed to leave on loan last summer rather than stay to fight for promotion, and the former Bayern Munich midfielder made the move to Real Betis, where he has started 24 times this season. The move was likely sanctioned to help preserve his value for a potential sale this summer, while it also took his £50,000 a week wages off the books at Elland Road.
However, as Roca himself revealed, another clause was inserted which may be set to cost Leeds any money this summer.
“There is a clause like this year. If Leeds is not in the Premier League, I can go on loan again. Let’s see. It depends on whether they go up or not," the Spaniard explained.
“They are things out of my control. I sincerely want you to go up, because I wish all the teams I have been in and wish you the best. I am grateful to them, I wish them the best, it has been my home, and from there we will see.”

وشدد رئيس الاتحاد الدولي على أن أبواب “فيفا” مفتوحة دائمًا أمامه لمناقشة أي تطوير في كرة القدم المصرية مستقبلًا.
وهنأ انفانتينو أيضًا المهندس خالد الدرندلي نائب الرئيس، وأعضاء مجلس الإدارة، مُتمنيًا لهم التوفيق في مواجهة التحديات المُقبلة والنجاح في قيادة الكرة المصرية للوصول إلى وضعها المميز مستقبلا.

وفي سياق مُتصل، أكد موتسيبي رئيس “كاف” في خطابه للمهندس هاني أبوريدة، أنه يتوجه بالتهنئة لكافة أعضاء مجلس الإدارة المنتخب الجديد، مشددًا على أن كرة القدم المصرية والإفريقية، تسعد بوجود شخص مثل أبوريدة معها يمتلك كل هذه الخبرات والطموح.
واختتم موتسيبي بتوجيه الشكر لـ أبوريدة بشكل شخصي على كافة النصائح التي حصل عليها منه طوال السنوات الماضية، وأنه يتطلع لمزيد من العمل المتواصل مستقبلا، من أجل تطوير كرة القدم في مصر وقارة إفريقيا.
