Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha is "very likely" to leave the club in the summer transfer window and Steve Parish wants to focus on securing Michael Olise, according to an update from journalist Pete O'Rourke.

When is Zaha out of contract?

The 30-year-old has arguably been the Eagles' greatest player of the Premier League era, so often proving to be their attacking talisman down the years. His pace, trickery and unpredictability have all made him such an exciting player to watch, and he has now racked up 458 appearances for Palace, scoring 90 goals and registering 76 assists along the way.

Zaha's future has been a big talking point throughout this season, however, with the £130,000-a-week winger's current Palace deal expiring at the end of the current campaign. That means he will be allowed to leave on a free transfer, unless an extension is agreed in the next month or so.

It feels increasingly likely that the Ivorian could be angling for a fresh challenge, seeing this moment as his last chance to get a big move at the peak of his powers. A fresh update further suggests that that could be the case.

Will Zaha leave Palace in the summer?

According to Football Insider's O'Rourke, he has been told that it is "very likely" Zaha will depart Selhurst Park in the summer window. While talks have taken place over a new Palace deal, little progress appears to have been made and the player is 'keen to pursue a new challenge'.

Marseille, Arsenal and Chelsea are all credited with interest in the report, and the news means that the Eagles are putting their focus on extending Olise's stay at the club, in order to soften the blow.

In truth, it does feel as though Zaha feels he has come as far as he can at Palace, with his talent arguably deserving of a move elsewhere before he drifts past his prime. He has shown such loyalty to the Eagles, returning there after a failed spell at Manchester United, so it would be hard to begrudge him a move to a club like Marseille, who are expected to be in the Champions League next term.

Ideally, he will sign an extension and spend the rest of his career in south London, of course, but he has lofty ambitions and will surely want to test himself in a European competition, which is something Palace can't offer him currently. There is always a chance that Zaha could have a change of heart, but at this point, it feels unlikely.

حكم المباراة مونويرا مونتيرو احتسب ركلة جزاء لصالح برشلونة في الوقت الضائع، ولكن غرفة الفار استدعته لمراجعة الحالة، ليعود ويلغي قراره.

وتعرض محمد صلاح لإصابة خلال مباراة مصر وغانا، وخرج على إثرها من اللقاء، وأصدر اتحاد الكرة بيانًا أكد فيه إن اللاعب يُعاني من شد في العضلة الخلفية، وسيسافر إلى ليفربول من أجل تلقي العلاج هناك، الأمر الذي أغضب الجماهير والإعلام، بسبب ترك قائد المنتخب للمعسكر في ظروف صعبة ببطولة كأس أمم إفريقيا 2023.

وبسؤاله عن إصابة محمد الشناوي حارس مرمى منتخب مصر، قال: “إن شاء الله سيجري آشعة وسنعلن في الوقت المناسب، الإصابة في الكتف وسيخضع لفحوصات وسنعلن نتيجتها”.

وأضاف: “بالنسبة لزميله أحمد الشناوي فهو سليم بنسبة 100% منذ فترة طويلة، ولا توجد إصابات أخرى في المنتخب”.

Mikel Arteta and co were dealt what is likely to be the final blow in the Premier League dream as they lost 3-0 at home to Brighton.

Indeed, having just seen title rivals Manchester City win away at Everton, the Gunners then looked out of sorts as goals from Julio Enciso, Deniz Undav, and Pervis Estupinan blew them away at the Emirates.

Their chances of getting anything against the Seagulls suffered a big setback early on in the game when Caicedo flew into a bad challenge with Martinelli.

Not long after, the Brazilian limped off with an injury having lasted just 20 minutes. Now there is a line of thinking that suggests he was fouled as retribution having made a poor challenge earlier on in the game.

Indeed, Martinelli was somewhat fortunate to avoid red after he charged into Kaoru Mitoma’s head with his shoulder, smashing the winger in mid-air.

Amid talk on Twitter that he’d made the resulting foul as a way of getting revenge on the Arsenal man, Caicedo has since then claimed that this wasn’t at all the case.

Indeed, on his social media account, the Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder said: “If I could turn back time I wouldn’t have made that bad tackle.”

What did Caicedo do to Martinelli?

This whole exchange is made all the more interesting by the fact that Arsenal have been heavily linked with the 21-year-old of late.

Indeed, the Gunners reportedly saw multiple bids in the region of £70m rejected for Caicedo in the winter and are understood to still be keen on landing the £60k-p/w midfielder now.

As reported by football.london, the Brighton star did hug Marinelli and appeared to apologise to the winger as he left the pitch on Sunday afternoon. And this latest social media post certainly suggests he’s keen to keep his relationship with the north London club on good terms.

And it seems as though he might need to calm things down somewhat as Arsenal team doctor Gary O’Driscoll was heard talking after the game making some pretty brutal comments about the tackle.

Indeed, he said: “Terrible foul, disgraceful, disgraceful foul.”

On the eve of a series which Angelo Mathews embarks upon without his two best seam bowlers of the past 18 months, Sri Lanka’s captain has called on the coaching system to raise its game.Sri Lanka’s quicks have been among the most injury-prone in the world over the past few years, with several spending up to 12 months in triage, and others regularly missing entire series with recurrent complaints. While many of these injuries have been difficult to avoid thanks to a busy schedule, Mathews said, there remained room for improvement in player production.In addition to the absence of Dhammika Prasad and Dushmantha Chameera, Sri Lanka are also without Shaminda Eranga, who was recently suspended for an illegal action. The selectors have had no choice but to pull two seam bowlers out of the ongoing A team tour of England, to replace the absent frontliners in the national squad. With Suranga Lakmal also in doubt for the first Test due to a hamstring complaint, either Asitha Fernando or Vishwa Fernando may make their Test debut.”The coaches in the back end have to do a lot of work to produce players, and also try to get them fit,” Mathews said. “We need more players coming through the ranks, so the coaches have a bigger job to play for the next one-and-a-half years. If the fast bowlers are injured, we need fast bowlers. At the international level, I can’t go as a captain and say we don’t have bowlers. If we don’t have them, we need to know how to produce them.”Prasad will now miss his third full Test series in a row, after having also withdrawn from the New Zealand and England tours before the first Test. Chameera left the England tour after the first Test, and legspinner Jeffrey Vandersay, who was being prepared for Test entry in this series, has also now been ruled out thanks to a finger injury.”It has been a very frustrating few months,” Mathews said. “Not only one bowler, we’ve lost so many. Vandersay is one of our key bowlers in the spin department. It’s very frustrating to see them going down. The workload has been very high when they play all three formats. When they play continuously, the body eventually gets tired. It’s very hard to divide those players when it comes to Tests, one-dayers and Twenty20s. We haven’t got a wide range of choices to make and pick from. The bowlers who are fit – they’ve got no choice but to play all three formats.”Actually, as back-up staff, we need to try and look for more new players and get them ready and fit. We can’t always keep saying, ‘the bowlers are injured, we haven’t got that many bowlers’. We need to try and find them if we don’t have them.”Of the bowlers that do remain however, spinners Rangana Herath and Dilruwan Perera are expected to feature through the series. Herath recently surpassed 300 Test scalps, and Perera has largely proved himself an able second spinner in Asian conditions.”I think the spinners will have a lot of workload on this pitch,” Mathews said. “If it’s spinning or seaming, we’ve got a couple of key bowlers in Rangana Herath or Dilruwan if it spins. They’ve got enough experience. We have set up a few plans and hopefully we can execute them.”Sri Lanka’s batting appears more settled than the attack, with Mathews confirming that Kusal Mendis and Dinesh Chandimal will bat at nos. 3 and 4, as they had through much of the tour of England. Openers Dimuth Karunaratne and Kaushal Silva have also now played more than 25 Tests each, and are currently unchallenged at the top of the order.”I’m actually happy with the current opening pair,” he said. “Especially in England – in tough conditions – I thought they put up some good efforts. All the batsmen lacked getting those big hundreds. If we can be more consistent and convert those 30s, 40s and 50s into 100s and 150s, that would be ideal. Our opening combination is going to be the key part in our batting unit. If they can get the shine off the ball and try and send the bowlers into their second and third spells, that would be ideal.”

There were few positives for Tottenham Hotspur to take from last weekend's 2-1 defeat at the hands of Aston Villa but the performance of the returning Yves Bissouma was one of them.

Harry Kane's late penalty wasn't enough for Spurs to salvage anything in the Midlands in a result which puts Unai Emery's side level on points with the Lilywhites in eighth position in the Premier League.

If Spurs want to avoid the Europa Conference League next season and ensure that they're playing in the more prestigious Europa League, then they will likely need positive results against Brentford and Leeds United in their final two games of the campaign.

Ryan Mason will be keen to finish his interim spell with a flourish, so he must surely consider handing the returning Bissouma a start against the Bees at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this afternoon.

Should Bissouma start vs Brentford?

It has been a frustrating first season in Tottenham colours for the 26-year-old, having joined the club from Brighton in a deal worth £25m last summer.

The Mali international, who was described as an "absolute monster" by journalist Aaron Stokes in 2021, has struggled with injury problems throughout the campaign, which has limited him to just eight starts and 13 substitute appearances in the Premier League so far this term.

After three months on the sidelines, he made his return in the 2-1 defeat against Villa last time out and was described as the "only real positive" by the Athletic's Charlie Eccleshare, which suggests that he is pushing for a start today.

Mason also spoke in his pre-match conference about Bissouma's fitness and hinted that he could feature heavily in the final two games of the campaign.

"Obviously he's had a few injuries this season that have probably halted his progress, but there are two games now and I can feel the excitement from him that he's back out on the training pitch and he's out there playing and he feels like he can help the team and hopefully he can do that," he said.

While Spurs fans might be disappointed to have seen so little from Bissouma this season, his performances last season with the Seagulls saw him earn a strong 6.99 average rating from WhoScored, which would be enough to rank him as the fourth-best player in Spurs' squad this term.

The same website also suggests that he excels at ball interceptions, passing, tackling and concentration, all of which make him stand out as a great defensive-minded option, which could help to improve Spurs' woeful defensive record in the final two games.

Bissouma will surely be an exciting option for next season when Spurs will hopefully have the right manager that can take the club in a positive direction.

In the meantime, though, Spurs must focus on playing to their highest level against Brentford today and after his impressive cameo against Villa, it is surely time that Bissouma was handed a rare Premier League start in a bid to dominate the Bees.
